RSM UK has appointed employment tax specialist Chris Robson as partner and national Fair Pay lead as the firm prepares for new employer rules due to come into force next April.

Robson joins from senior roles at PwC and Deloitte, where he developed Fair Pay and worker-rights advisory services.

He brings more than two decades’ experience in employment tax, equality and compliance work at a time when employers face closer oversight of pay practices.

The appointment comes ahead of the launch of the Fair Work Agency and follows the passage of the Employment Rights Bill, which will introduce enhanced rights for workers.

In his new role, Robson will support large and mid-market employers across sectors including retail, hospitality, health, manufacturing and logistics.

He will also lead the firm’s Fair Pay offering within its employer solutions practice, working alongside RSM’s specialist employment legal team to provide integrated advice on pay compliance and employment rights.

His expertise includes national minimum wage obligations, holiday pay, gender pay gap reporting and equal pay.

Robson said: “I’m excited to join RSM at a time when Fair Pay is under greater scrutiny than ever. With the launch of the Fair Work Agency now months away and enhanced worker rights as a result of the Employment Rights Bill, employers need to be confident they are compliant, have a clear remuneration strategy and systems which align to policies. I look forward to helping them achieve that, and to further developing RSM’s Fair Pay capability.”

Martin Cooper, partner and head of employer solutions, added: “Pay strategy and compliance is increasingly high on the agenda for employers. Our appointment of Chris, a market-leading expert on Fair Pay, reflects our commitment to providing clients with specialist advice in this critical area.

“His vast experience, relationships and ability to navigate the complexities involved in this area will strengthen our ability to support organisations as they come to terms with new legislation and the forthcoming Fair Work Agency.”
