S&W has appointed James Maclean as a director in its transaction services value creation team in London, as the professional services group continues to expand its deals capability.

Maclean has more than 20 years’ experience in audit, IFRS and financial services deal advisory, including senior roles at PwC and KPMG.

He has advised boards on more than 100 transactions worth over £30bn across banking and capital markets, fintech, and asset and wealth management.

His expertise spans data-driven analysis, operational improvement and value creation strategies.

Maclean’s career also includes secondments at a major UK high-street bank and a challenger bank, working alongside corporate development teams.

Most recently he advised a private bank on a value-creation and execution review. He has also completed Oxford Saïd Business School’s fintech programme.

S&W said the appointment supports its plan to strengthen its transactions offering and guide clients across the full deal lifecycle.

Maclean said: “I’m thrilled to be joining S&W’s outstanding transaction services team to help build and strengthen operations in deals and value creation across financial services. I look forward to leveraging my experience to deliver a significant impact to our clients.”

Jonathan Broadis, partner in the value creation team, added: “I am delighted to welcome James to the value creation team in transactions. His market experience in financial services M&A is extensive, especially around assessing all operational levers and realising value through execution for clients. This will help us successfully deliver our growth strategy across financial services and fintech M&A work.”
