Bishop Fleming has appointed Taj Lalli, a former KPMG director, as corporate finance partner in its Birmingham office. He will join the firm on 1 September.

Lalli will focus on mergers and acquisitions and other deal-related activities, providing expertise to support client needs and the firm’s growth plans. The appointment is the third senior hire in the Birmingham office in just over three months, with apprentices set to join later this year.

He began his career at KPMG in 2001 and has more than two decades’ experience advising private companies on exits through trade sales and private equity transactions. With strong connections to Birmingham, he will support businesses across the Midlands, drawing on his knowledge of the region’s industrial growth and major infrastructure projects such as HS2.

Lalli said: “I’m excited to be joining Bishop Fleming as its expansion into Birmingham builds impressive momentum. I was drawn to the firm by its clear conviction and commitment to growth, because in a market that can feel fragmented, the firm’s focused strategy and willingness to fully invest in its ambitions really stood out to me.

“I’m eager to bring my experience in mergers and acquisitions to help our clients in the Midlands navigate opportunities and achieve their goals. Birmingham is a city on the rise, so I look forward to working with our team to strengthen our presence and support the businesses driving that growth.”

The appointment comes as Bishop Fleming pursues its Better Growth strategy, which aims to double the size of the business to more than £200m in revenue and 2,000 staff through organic growth and acquisitions. The firm currently has 48 partners following 10 appointments this year, and expects to add over 70 apprentices in 2025, taking its headcount beyond 550.

Mark Taylor, Birmingham office lead at Bishop Fleming, added: “We’re thrilled to welcome Taj to Bishop Fleming and to our new Birmingham office. His outstanding track record in mergers and acquisitions will be a huge asset to our clients across the Midlands.

“His commitment to building strategic alliances with key figures and organisations aligns perfectly with our ambition to strengthen the city’s profile, attract investment, and create opportunities for local businesses.”
