Former Wales Rugby Union captain Ellis Jenkins has joined Dow Schofield Watts in Cardiff as corporate relations lead, following his retirement from professional rugby.

Jenkins, who played for Cardiff Rugby and led Wales in matches against sides including New Zealand and South Africa, will support the firm’s growing client base across Wales and the South West

His appointment is part of the continued expansion of the corporate finance team.

Alongside his rugby career, Jenkins studied for an Executive MBA at Cardiff University and spent eight years on the executive committee of the Welsh Rugby Players Association, helping lead negotiations with the Welsh Rugby Union.

Dow Schofield Watts has also promoted Ben Nix to associate. Nix has advised on several recent transactions, including the acquisition of CWC Group by Euro Commercials, creating a £150m revenue business.

He said: “After taking time to reflect on 15 years of professional rugby and consider my next steps, I’m excited to begin a new chapter in my career with DSW Cardiff.

“I’m joining a dynamic team that is growing rapidly across Wales and the South West, and I’m confident that my experience of problem-solving in high-pressure sporting situations will serve me well in the fast-paced world of corporate finance.”

Koo Aseeley, partner in the Cardiff corporate finance team, added: “We’re excited about the continued growth of the Cardiff team. Ellis brings outstanding leadership experience, an ambitious mindset and a fantastic network from his time in elite sport.

“Ben’s promotion to associate is thoroughly deserved. He’s been delivering exceptional results, and it’s great to see his hard work recognised.”
