Shaw Gibbs has announced the appointment of Naomi Stewart as the firm’s new head of tax.

Stewart, who joined Shaw Gibbs in April by way of the merger with Martin and Company, will oversee the tax services across all the offices within the expanding practice.

A qualified chartered accountant and tax adviser, she has over 25 years of experience including corporate tax advisory with a Big Four practice and 14 years with Azets (formerly Wilkins Kennedy).

In addition, Stewart’s skill set lies in tax structuring, succession and M&A planning, R&D tax relief and share schemes. She has a particular interest in the property and construction sector.

Peter O’Connell, CEO of Shaw Gibbs, said: “We are delighted to welcome Naomi to her new role as head of tax for the group. Naomi has played a key role in the success of the tax practice at Martin and Company, and we are confident that she will bring her expertise, leadership, and vision to the whole group.

“Appointing experts from our regional offices into leadership roles is very much part of our plan. Naomi’s appointment reflects our commitment to investing in people development and providing high-quality tax services to our clients across all our locations.”

Stewart added: “I am honoured and excited to take on this new challenge as head of tax for Shaw Gibbs.

“I look forward to working with the talented tax teams across the group and supporting our clients with their tax needs in a complex and dynamic environment. I am also grateful for the opportunity to be part of the group’s strategic direction and growth.”
