BDO has appointed Tim Betts as its new head of Business Restructuring, effective from 1 October 2024.Betts will succeed Mark Shaw, who was recently elected to become the UK firm’s new managing partner.
In his new role, Betts will lead a team of 22 partners and around 150 staff offering a full range of services including: Restructuring Advisory and Insolvency, Public Sector and Not for Profit, Cross Border and Contentious Insolvency, Corporate Simplification, Pensions Covenant Advisory, Personal Insolvency and Special Situations M&A.
Betts first joined the firm as a graduate trainee in 2003, working his way up to partner in 2019.
During that time, he has led the Government and Not for Profit team in Business Restructuring, advising public sector, charity and educational organisations.
Most recently, he has been the chief operating officer of the wider Advisory business within BDO.
Commenting on his new role, Betts said: “I’m very much looking forward to taking on this leadership role. We have a phenomenal team delivering a full suite of services for our referrers/clients both in the UK and internationally. I’m excited about the potential to develop the business even further, drawing on the strength and depth of the wider firm and building on our heritage.”
