Staff from accountancy firm, Clive Owen, have completed a Lake District hike in support of St Teresa’s Hospice.

The team undertook the Buttermere Way, a 10 mile route involving climbs to five Wainwright fells, raising £900 for the Darlington-based charity. The fundraising effort is a reflection of the firms’ commitment to supporting local communities and charities across the region. St Teresa’s Hospice provides free palliative and end of life care for adults with life-limiting illnesses across South Durham and West Yorkshire, as well as support for their families and carers.

Carl Wright, partner and sustainability lead at Clive Owen, said: “St Teresa’s Hospice provides invaluable support to individuals and families during some of the most challenging times in their lives. Many of us have seen first-hand the positive impact the charity has within our communities, which is why we were keen to take on this challenge and help raise vital funds for its services.

“These charitable initiatives, many of which are inspired and driven by our colleagues, form an important part of our ongoing commitment to sustainability and fostering a responsible business culture that benefits our people, clients and communities.”

He added: “We are incredibly grateful for the support we have received and hope our efforts will help St Teresa’s Hospice continue its outstanding work for those who rely on its care and services.”

Nicola Myers, CEO of St Teresa’s Hospice, said: “We are incredibly grateful to the wonderful team at Clive Owen for their support in taking on the Buttermere Way challenge and raising such a fantastic amount for St Teresa’s Hospice.

“Their ongoing support over the years is hugely valued. Clive Owen have been committed supporters of the Hospice, almost since the beginning, and have helped us in many different ways over that time.

“The Buttermere Way is a demanding route and completing it is a tremendous achievement. The funds raised will make a real difference, helping us continue to provide specialist care and support to local patients and their families when they need us most. On behalf of everyone at the Hospice, thank you for your ongoing support and for once again going the extra mile for St Teresa’s.”
