RMT Accountants is expanding its operations in the south of England after investing in a new office in central London and appointing a new lead for its recovery and insolvency team.

The firm has moved into the new premises at Cavendish Square as part of efforts to build its client base in the south, with the office focusing on business recovery and restructuring work.

It comes as insolvency professional Manjit Shokar has joined the firm as head of recovery and insolvency for London and the south.

Shokar has almost 25 years of professional services experience and is a licensed insolvency practitioner. He began his career in the office of the Official Receiver.

Chris Ferguson, director of recovery and restructuring at RMT, said: “Our London team is already an important part of our restructuring offering, and our aim is to scale RMT’s reach across these areas through the skills of our expert recovery specialists and by leveraging the additional resources that being part of the Sumer Group provides.

“Manjit’s appointment is a key step in accelerating our growth plans in London and the south. His depth of industry experience and knowledge will help us deliver on our growth ambitions and we’re very pleased to be welcoming him to the team.”

Shokar added: “The strength of RMT’s insolvency offering is well recognised in our industry and there’s a great opportunity to extend our presence in London and the south.

“Every business recovery and restructuring case is different, meaning the solutions we develop have to be just as individualised, and we have the expertise and experience to deliver the best possible outcomes for everyone involved.”
