BTG has bolstered its investigation and governance, risk and compliance (GRC) offering with the appointment of Ben Inshaw as director.

Inshaw joins BTG as director from a major accountancy firm and brings more than a decade of experience conducting complex, cross border investigations and helping clients enhance their fraud risk management frameworks.

His clients have included FTSE 250-listed corporates, private equity-backed businesses, SMEs and major public sector bodies, including the Insolvency Service and the Department for Business and Trade.

Inshaw has previously led complex investigations into fraud, bribery, director misconduct, whistleblowing allegations, insolvency related matters, procurement breaches and accounting irregularities.

His work often involves senior stakeholders, regulatory or legal considerations and collaboration with legal advisers, regulators, auditors and internal teams.

He also has extensive experience supporting clients across multiple sectors in preparing for the introduction of the ‘Failure to Prevent Fraud’ offence under the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act.

In his role at BTG, Inshaw will build and strengthen the firm’s offering to corporate clients, particularly focussing on investigations, fraud risk management and insolvency related matters. He brings “significant experience” in using AI tools and technologies on investigations to analyse large and complex datasets.

This latest appointment continues the growth of the forensics, compliance and risk team at BTG, which recently rebranded from Begbies Traynor Group.

Richard Pughe, partner and national practice lead for Forensic and Risk Advisory at BTG, said: “Bringing Ben to the team gives our clients access to his wealth of experience in reacting to and protecting against fraudulent activity.

“He also provides calmness in crisis and the ability to deliver strategic advice to implement strong governance frameworks. His is a skillset that we know clients need more of and can benefit significantly from as we work for an ever-larger range of corporates across industries from financial services to industrials, consumer and even sport.

Sannan Khan, partner and national lead for Investigation, Integrity and Compliance Services at BTG, said: “Since joining BTG I have seen the demand for our services from clients grow as we seek to fulfil our ambitions. As a group, BTG is constantly looking to move forwards, and Ben’s appointment is part of that. He will also help us to increase the cross-service solutions we offer across BTG including financial advisory, funding, restructuring, real estate and investigations.

“The profile of work that Ben has done in his career is significant and clients should be very confident that we have brought in another high-calibre professional to the team. It is yet another demonstration that we have built a top class team to cater for all sizes of cases and clients.”

Inshaw added: “Joining this team, at this time means I can deliver significant benefits to clients by supporting on complex investigations and insolvency-related matters whilst bringing a new dimension to BTG’s offering utilising my experience of AI-powered investigations and compliance programmes. I am not only keen to help the forensic and risk service line grow, but also be a part of BTG’s next step in its own evolution.”
