Sumer has appointed two national co-heads of tax to oversee its services across the UK and support its 60,000 small and medium-sized enterprise clients.

From April 2026, Lisa Wilson and Jason Fayers will take on the new leadership roles. Both are existing leaders within the group’s member firms.

Wilson is currently a partner and head of tax at Cowgills. Fayers serves as the managing partner at Scrutton Bland.

The new structure aims to coordinate tax expertise across the group. It will combine national specialist knowledge with local delivery for business owners.

Wilson and Fayers will work with team leaders to develop services in corporate tax, private client, innovation taxes, VAT, and compliance.

The appointments follow the group’s strategy to integrate its national capability while maintaining local relationships through its regional offices.

Chief executive Warren Mead said: “This is an important step for Sumer and great news for our clients. Lisa and Jason are proven leaders who understand the needs of SMEs and the value of strong local relationships. Their appointment reflects the exceptional talent we have across the Group. By bringing our tax expertise together nationally, we can support clients even better while keeping the personal service they rely on.”

Wilson added: “I’m incredibly proud to take on this role. We have fantastic talent across Sumer, and by working more closely together we can deliver even more value to our clients. I’m looking forward to helping build a national tax service that is practical, accessible and truly market-leading.”

Fayers said: “Stepping into this role at such an exciting time for Sumer is a real privilege. Our priority is to give clients clear, practical advice to help them make confident decisions and achieve their ambitions. I’m looking forward to working closely with Lisa and the wider team to ensure our clients continue to benefit from a truly joined-up, forward-thinking approach by bringing together the depth of expertise across our tax community.”
