S&W has appointed partner Matthew Roach to its London business tax practice, marking the firm’s second senior hire in the capital this week. The professional services group said the move would expand its real estate capabilities. Roach brings more than 20 years of specialist experience in real estate and funds tax, including advising on major UK and European property transactions.
Roach joins from Interpath, where he was managing director, and previously served as a partner at KPMG. He has worked across fund structuring, real estate finance and loan portfolio deals, supporting clients ranging from large private equity real estate and alternative funds to mid-market and entrepreneurial investors.
His appointment follows the recent hiring of Kersten Muller as head of business tax London, a development the firm said reflects its aim to grow its tax advisory offering.
Mark Webb, head of business tax at S&W, said: “Matthew’s appointment is a significant step in expanding our London tax practice and enhancing our real estate capabilities.
“His deep expertise in real estate tax and experience advising on complex, high-value transactions will enable us to deliver even greater value to clients.”
Roach added: “I’m excited to join S&W at such a pivotal time in its growth journey. The firm’s ambition and collaborative culture really stood out to me, and I look forward to working with Mark, Kersten and the wider team to help clients navigate complex real estate tax challenges and achieve their strategic goals.”
Earlier this week S&W appointed Kersten Muller as head of business tax in London. Muller brings more than 25 years’ experience of working in the real estate industry, in particular with funds, fund managers and family offices on the structuring of UK, European and global real estate transactions.
He joins from Alvarez and Marsal, where he was managing director and led the real estate team.
