PKF Smith Cooper has appointed Lucinda Matkin as director in its business recovery and restructuring team, strengthening the firm’s presence across the East Midlands.

Matkin brings more than 25 years of experience in insolvency and restructuring, including time at a Big Four firm.

She is the founder of LM Insolvency, a Midlands-based recovery and turnaround practice she has led since 2012, providing services to individuals and companies across multiple sectors.

A fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, she joins PKF Smith Cooper with expertise spanning insolvency, recovery and business turnaround.

The appointment follows team changes earlier in 2025 that brought a closer working structure across the firm’s East Midlands offices, led by partner Dean Nelson in Derby and Nottingham.

Matkin said: “Having spent over a decade running my own practice, I’m excited to bring that same personal, empathetic approach to a larger, highly respected firm with extended expertise and resources.

“My priority has always been to support business owners and individuals through financial challenges with clarity and compassion, and this move allows me to continue doing that on a broader scale.”

Nelson added: “Lucinda joins during a new chapter for the business recovery and restructuring practice. Her extensive experience will be a great asset at a time of continued uncertainty for many businesses.”
