BDO has announced the appointment of Ian McBane as its new head of business services and outsourcing, effective immediately.

Having joined the firm in 2019 following its merger with Moore Stephens, McBane became part of the leadership team of the business services and outsourcing division. For the past three years he has also led the firm’s 350-strong national technology, media and telecoms sector team.

With more than 20 years of experience in finance and accounting, McBane has advised a range of businesses from private equity-backed firms and mid-market companies to international scale-ups, supporting them with finance transformation, reporting processes and global expansion.

McBane said: “I see huge potential to help our clients improve the way they harness data to drive insight, boost efficiency and fuel sustainable growth. And as AI continues to reshape how we work, I’m excited about the opportunities to reimagine and deliver the finance function of the future – supporting our clients to build smarter, more resilient organisations.”

Leigh Treacy, BDO’s head of consulting, risk and outsourcing, added: “Ian has a strong track record in supporting businesses throughout the lifecycle from start-up through scale-up to stock market listing. He has also spearheaded our Finance Function of the Future initiative, helping clients to horizon scan and prepare themselves for the challenges of tomorrow.

“In his new role, Ian’s strategic vision will continue to be hugely valuable to our clients and to us as a firm.”
