Dains Group has announced the appointment of investment banker David Silver as its new group chair, following the firm’s largest acquisition to date of Barnes Roffe.

Silver has more than 20 years of experience in investment banking, including nine years as head of European investment banking at a US bank. He has advised on more than 100 mergers and acquisitions worldwide, focusing on white collar and technology-enabled services businesses.

A qualified lawyer with an MBA from London Business School, Silver has held chair and non-executive roles at several private equity-backed professional services firms, including in accountancy.

Silver said: “Dains has a clear vision, a strong reputation and an ambitious leadership team committed to building a market-leading advisory business.

“I look forward to working with Richard and the team to drive the next phase of growth and deliver exceptional outcomes for clients across the UK and Ireland.”

Richard McNeilly, chief executive of Dains Group, added: “David’s appointment as group chair marks an exciting milestone for Dains. His outstanding track record in M&A, deep understanding of professional services, and experience in scaling private equity-backed businesses make him a powerful addition to our leadership team.

“With David’s support, we’re well placed to accelerate our growth and continue delivering outstanding services to ambitious businesses.”
