Scottish firm Wbg has announced that it will be recruiting seven graduates to its internal audit team following “significant growth” in the past few years.

The recruitment has been made possible by the fact that the firm’s internal audit fee income has doubled over the last three years from £900k to £1.8m and is forecast to be in excess of £2m within the current financial year.

It also stated that seven new audit clients won since the start of 2025 have yielded a recurring fee income of more than £285,000.

As a result, the company’s headcount in the department will rise to 30, up from 11 in 2022.

Graham Gillespie, partner, and head of internal audit at Wbg, said: “This summer we are increasing our graduate intake from three last year to a magnificent seven as we deliver our intention to grow our own talent and further develop the talent of tomorrow to enable us to keep pace with our rate of expansion.

“The only Scottish independent accountancy practice with audit activity throughout all four parts of the UK, our growth has been realised by our ability to identify and exploit a niche in the market for a firm of our size with the range of qualities we can deliver effectively via a specialist internal audit service.”

He added: “Through a series of tender wins, we have earned a reputation for excellence across various specialist sectors, including education and social housing, as well as a diverse range of other public sector bodies. Our conversion rate at the tender stage is exceptionally high.”

Wbg provides a range of internal audit services, focusing on risk and compliance across a range of process areas as well as added value reviews.
