Deloitte has announced the appointment of David Mitchell as its new office senior partner in Glasgow

Having been an audit partner at the Big Four firm since 2016, Mitchell, possesses over 20 years of experience in professional services, with “deep” roots in the Scottish market.

In his new role, Mitchell will prioritise supporting all of the firm’s business lines, with the aim of promoting sustainable economic growth and positioning the business to harness the potential of the energy transition agenda in Scotland.

This will involve supporting Deloitte’s largest engagements across the UK, as well as connecting with entrepreneurs, universities, incubation programmes, public, private and third sectors.

Mitchell will also be responsible for leading Glasgow’s team of 325 members of staff based at its Queen Street office.

In 2024, Deloitte Scotland welcomed 88 people to its graduate and BrightStart apprenticeship and industrial placement programmes, with 29 of those in Glasgow.

Mitchell said: “I am looking forward to engaging with Glasgow’s dynamic local business community in my new position. I am deeply grateful for my colleagues’ hard work and support – their depth of knowledge, diverse expertise, and commitment make them truly best in class. My role is to foster an environment that brings out the very best in our people and to create a supportive environment that enables both new and existing team members to succeed.

“Looking ahead, our focus will be on embracing new technologies and harnessing the potential of AI and digital transformation to enhance and evolve Scotland’s business ecosystem, as well as capitalising on the many opportunities that the energy transition agenda brings.”

Angela Mitchell, senior partner for Deloitte in Scotland, added: “David’s forward-thinking approach makes him the ideal leader to drive forward our Glasgow office and foster an environment where staff feel empowered to unlock their potential. I look forward to working with him in his new role and to seeing his vision for the office come to life.”
