Grant Thornton UK has appointed Debbie King as partner in its Restructuring, Pensions and Debt Advisory (RPDA) practice. The firm said King is a respected advisor and insolvency practitioner who brings experience in both the mid-market and large corporate spaces.

She has delivered numerous high-profile matters and has advised businesses and their stakeholders on their contingency plans, having a “strong market reputation” for her quality of delivery and stakeholder management.

In her new role, she will contribute to the growth of the practice with market-facing responsibilities including leading “large and complex” cases, as well as developing RPDA’s market momentum with lenders and legal advisers both in the UK and internationally.

She will also play a leadership role in people management and team development, bringing experience in Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) initiatives and a “passion for actively advocating for diverse talent”.

Commenting on the appointment, Kevin Coates, Restructuring, Pensions and Debt Advisory partner at Grant Thornton, said: “I am excited to welcome Debbie to the team to enhance our national and international restructuring offering. With her strong technical skills and market reputation, Debbie will play a vital role in driving growth opportunities for the firm.

“Her appointment further enriches the extensive expertise and capability of the restructuring team, setting the stage for expanded service diversification and growth.”

King added: “Grant Thornton’s international reach, including offshore, and the exciting opportunities to contribute to growth across markets was a main attraction for me. Moreover, the restructuring team is well respected for its sector expertise and commercial approach and is sought after by clients to deliver results in challenging situations.

“I’m looking forward to being an integral part of this team as it continues to expand its offering to meet the increasingly diverse needs of our clients in the UK and across the world, further developing the firm’s international presence.”
