PKF Smith Cooper has appointed Adam Zaman as corporate tax senior manager and Matt Doherty as corporate tax manager, as the firm continues plans to double in size within the next five years.

After earning a degree in accounting and finance, Zaman started his professional career at a regional firm in South Yorkshire, which gave him an understanding of the tax needs of SMEs. After eight years he moved on to a “top 10” accountancy practice.

His sector experience spans automotive technology and vehicle leasing, farms and landed estates, hotels and restaurants, IT, telecommunications and technology, manufacturing and engineering, health and social care, professional services, property and construction, real estate, transport and logistics, and travel.

Regarding his appointment, Zaman said: “I am delighted to be joining PKF Smith Cooper as a corporate tax senior manager. I have been warmly welcomed by the team, which is a testament to the great individuals at the firm. I am excited to enhance the already fantastic corporation tax offering at PKF Smith Cooper and look forward to helping our clients with the complexities of the tax world.”

Meanwhile Doherty’s career began at a ‘Big Four’ accountancy firm. He has over a decade of experience and will be based in the Nottingham office.

He has worked with both large companies and SMEs in a range of industries, and has developed specialist experience in the manufacturing and engineering, real estate, sports, and transport and logistics industries.

Doherty said: “I am thrilled to be joining PKF Smith Cooper as a corporate tax manager. The team has been very welcoming and I look forward to working closely with our clients to meet their corporate tax compliance obligations, navigate complex tax legislation, understand and mitigate tax risks, take advantage of tax opportunities and incentives and, more broadly, achieve their commercial objectives.”

Natasha Scott, corporate tax partner, added: “It is a pleasure to welcome both Adam and Matt to our corporate tax team. Their combined experience and passion for the field will be instrumental in driving our continued growth and delivering exceptional value to our clients. I look forward to seeing the positive impact they will have on our team and clients.”
