SyersMcGill, a Yorkshire-based accountancy firm, has announced the appointment of former Bradford City player Dave Syers as its new director.

He brings with him his expertise in managing business growth within the SME market.

Syers spent six seasons as a professional footballer playing for several Yorkshire-based clubs, including Bradford City, Doncaster Rovers and Scunthorpe United.

He returned to non-league football in 2016 playing for Guiseley, Darlington and Farsley Celtic whilst studying and ultimately qualifying as a chartered accountant.

Syers will be working alongside Michaela McGill and Daniel Syres.

McGill is a certified chartered accountant and joined the practice over 30 years ago and specialises in personal tax compliance and partnership / sole trade accounts.

Meanwhile, Daniel Syres is a qualified chartered accountant and small company specialist. He became a partner six years ago as part of a management buyout.

McGill said: “It is a really exciting time for the practice, we have expanded our remit and look forward to being able to offer businesses wider support whilst preserving and building on our proactive approach to accountancy services at reasonable rates.”

Daniel Syres added: “This is a significant step in our ongoing growth plan and safeguards the future of Syers McGill as an independent firm of accountants. We really pride ourselves on our honest approach in providing clients with valuable advice and services.”
