Supermarket giant Sainsburys has revealed it has recommended appointing PwC as the group’s auditor for the year ending 28 February 2026.

It comes following the completion of a formal tender process, overseen by its audit committee, for its group audit which has carefully evaluated” the offering of each participant. This has resulted in a recommendation from the audit committee, which has been endorsed by the board.

Ernst and Young, who have been the company’s auditor since July 2015, will continue in the role until that time, and will therefore undertake the group audit for the years ending 2 March 2024 and 1 March 2025.

PwCs appointment will be put to shareholders for approval at the 2025 Annual General Meeting.

The news comes after the big four firm was also recently re-appointed as auditors to the NCC Group, a people-powered, tech-enabled global cyber security and software escrow business, for the financial period ending 30 September 2024.
