Shaw Gibbs has announced the appointment of John Williams as its new chief financial officer (CFO).

Williams, who took up his position on 27 February, will be responsible for overseeing the firm’s financial strategy and operations.

Having qualified as a chartered accountant at EY, his career encompasses various senior roles in both private and public companies.

Notably, prior to joining Shaw Gibbs, Williams served as CFO for two private equity backed organisations where he led the financial transformation and played a key role in growth, exit and flotation.

In his new role, Williams will be responsible for driving Shaw Gibbs’ financial strategy and ensuring that the firm is in a position to deliver growth. He will work closely with the firm’s partners and management team to identify and pursue new growth opportunities, whilst also ensuring that the firm remains financially stable and well-positioned for long-term success.

Williams said: “I am thrilled to be joining Shaw Gibbs at a time when the company is in such an interesting time in their trajectory.

“The firm has a great reputation in the industry and a triumphant growth story waiting to be told: these factors, alongside a clearly talented and committed finance team were what really interested me in the role. I look forward to working with Shaw Gibbs to help take the business to the next level.”

Shaw Gibbs managing partner, Peter O’Connell added: “John’s extensive experience including working with high-growth private equity backed businesses will be invaluable in helping us to achieve our strategic objectives of building a high-quality regional practice who provide first-rate advisory solutions.

We look forward to working with him to build on our success and deliver even greater value to our clients.”
