ForrestBrown has announced the appointment of Angela Banerjee as a new senior tax manager in the firm’s Scottish office.

Banerjee brings over 12 years’ tax experience to the Glasgow-based team. She has previously worked for R&D tax specialists and Big Four firms where she provided business advisory services, including coordinating innovation incentives across large group structures.

In her new role, Banerjee will deliver dedicated, locally based R&D tax advice to ForrestBrown’s portfolio of clients in Scotland and beyond.

ForrestBrown said the appointment reflects the growth of the Scottish market for R&D tax relief, driven by the engineering and energy sectors in Scotland, including investment in R&D to support decommissioning of oil and gas infrastructure.

Additionally, Banerjee will have a particular focus on sustainability as it continues to “grow in importance” across all sectors.

Banerjee said: “R&D tax reliefs incentivise businesses to invest in innovation and this can have a transformative impact on their growth. I’m excited to be joining the ForrestBrown team to help bring these benefits to more Scottish businesses.”

Sara Brigden, ForrestBrown’s managing director, added: “Angela’s expertise will be invaluable to ForrestBrown and our clients as we continue to build our presence in the Scottish market. We’re excited to have her on board.”
