Tilney Smith and Williamson has appointed Sally Macdonald as an independent non-executive director of the Smith and Williamson Fund Administration, its host ACD and fund administration business.

In addition to the new role, Macdonald will also be a member of the firm’s investment committee where she will help “enhance and strengthen” the overall governance in this area.

The firm described Macdonald as an “experienced” non-executive director and a former portfolio manager. She has been a non-executive director of the JP Morgan Japanese Investment Trust since December 2018 and joined the board of Fidelity Asian Values in late 2021.

She began her career as a UK Equity Analyst before moving to cover Asian markets and worked in a number of senior investment roles, most recently as head of Asian Equities at Marlborough Fund Managers where she was jointly responsible for both the Asian and Global Emerging Markets funds and sat on the firm’s investment committee.

Dean Buckley, chair of Smith and Williamson Fund Administration Limited said: “I am delighted to welcome Sally to the board. Sally brings extensive investment industry experience, including five years spent on the investment committee of a host ACD, which will be invaluable to our business as we continue to expand our operations providing services to the UK funds industry.”

Macdonald added: “I am excited to be joining Tilney Smith and Williamson at a pivotal point in its development and I look forward to working with such a respected board.”
