McDermott Will and Emery (McDermott) has announced the appointment of former Deloitte partner, Kevin Cummings as head of its London corporate tax practice.

McDermott said the move continues to expand its “leading global tax capabilities” as Cummings is set to strengthen the firm’s comprehensive offering, supporting clients across a “broad spectrum” of industries.

According to the firm, Cumming’s practice includes most forms of UK and international tax advice for large multinationals and privately owned groups, having traditionally advised US, Swiss and UK-headed organisations across a wide range of industries and subject matters.

Jane May, global head of McDermott’s tax practice, said: “Kevin’s joining comes on the heels of several other high-profile additions to McDermott Tax. Our clients are experiencing increasing needs for comprehensive tax planning, compliance advice and expertise to support their cross-border transactions.

“We are delighted to have additional leaders like Kevin join our leading and dynamic McDermott tax bench.”

Hamid Yunis, McDermott’s London managing partner, added: “As we continue to expand our client offering in the UK and globally, Kevin’s extensive tax experience will enable us to provide our clients with sophisticated tax input for their growth objectives.

Kevin said: “I am very much looking forward to helping McDermott further expand its world-class tax practice, while offering clients the benefit of a broad international platform and a truly comprehensive deal and structuring capability.”
