Insolvency Service publishes new guidance for Official Receivers

The guidance is part of the body’s efforts to increase support and share knowledge with the insolvency profession

The Insolvency Service has published new guidance for Official Receivers, making it available for the wider insolvency profession.

Released last week, the guidance is part of the body’s efforts to increase support and share knowledge within the insolvency sector.

Relevant legislation and processes for Official Receivers when acting as Liquidator or Trustee are included within the guidance.

Stakeholders requesting information about the published guidance can access it on the government’s website.

Revisions to winding-up orders, restrictions on bankruptcies, appeals and inspections are among the latest updates to the guidance for Official Receivers.

However, the service emphasised that the guidance is not exhaustive, and it may be appropriate in some circumstances for the Official Receiver to deviate from it on occasion.

Justin Dionne, chief technical officer for the Insolvency Service, said: “We know that many of our stakeholders have requested comprehensive insolvency guidance.

“The new Technical Guidance for Official Receivers should serve as a useful resource to share knowledge amongst the insolvency profession, while complementing other guidance we share through our regular technical bulletins.”
