SGP Accountants Limited has donated £6,500 to the NHS, with the donation being used to purchase iPads for virtual visits through the health services ‘Linking Loved Ones’ programme.
The group, which has offices in London, Sunderland and Teesside, said that the donation will be used to buy “equipment to ensure families can keep in touch with loved ones who may be in hospital”.
One of the company’s directors, Jonathan Beckerlegge, visited the University Hospital of North Tees to present the cheque to patient experience colleagues Louise Parkin, Charlotte Pett and Erin Duckers.
Beckerlegge said the firm had been “wanting to support for some months now”, but had only just been able to “formally pass on its donation to the trust”.
He said: “I think for everyone, the ability to be able to contact our loved ones in hospital is vital. Being able to support this cause by donating towards making sure virtual visiting is possible both now and in the future, was something myself and everyone on the company board were very passionate to support.”
Ahmed Al Zaiter , accountants director for SGP, approved the donation, as part of an initiative to support a number of local organisations in recent months, such as the neighbouring “South Tees’ Hospitals Charity” – which is also part of the NHS.
