Financial and professional services firm Smith and Williamson has announced the appointment of Avi Heeralall as partner and head of technology audit at the group.

Joining from Grant Thornton’s TMT division, Heeralall brings an additional decade of experience working at big four firms to his new role.

Appointed as an audit specialist in the technology sector, he will be tasked leading the firm’s expansion in this area.

Heeralall said: “I have already been impressed with the team’s strategy of initially building relationships with shareholders before going on to support companies.

“Smith and Williamson not only has strategic partnerships with state-of-the-art entrepreneurs and global IT businesses, but also invests in the creation of new tools and platforms to provide real value through clever automated data analytics across various parts of the audit.”

Before taking on the new position, Heeralall has already worked within a number of technology sub-sectors, including but not limited to robotic process automation, cyber security, payment services, fintech, and online gaming.

Guy Swarbeck, partner at Smith and Williamson, said: “I am delighted to welcome Avi to Smith and Williamson. Technology is one of our core sectors and Avi’s experience and dynamic approach gives us an opportunity to further increase our presence in the market.”
