The North East accountancy and business advisory firm Baldwins has bolstered its corporate finance offering with a senior appointment.

Matt Waters has joined Baldwins, a CogitalGroup company, as its new corporate finance manager and will be based in the firm’s Wynyard office.

With 16 years of experience in the finance sector, Waters has “extensive” industry knowledge following his roles as a merger and acquisition manager and auditor.

Having worked in corporate finance for the last four years, he has completed over 20 transactions and is looking forward to bringing his enthusiasm and problem-solving skills to the Baldwins team.

Waters said: “I am thrilled to be working in a close team to drive our corporate finance offering forward and being able to grow the brand and sector internally for the group.

“As corporate finance manager I will be responsible for all of the projects we have underway in the north east and I’ll also be tasked with establishing new projects from both internal and external sources.

“There is a real drive for us to establish ourselves to the wider corporate finance market and the opportunity for growth is huge.”

Having established a “strong client base” and relationships with introducers, Baldwins’ corporate finance team, who work with numerous clients in a variety of sectors including healthcare, distribution, manufacturing and professional services, are predicting the coming year will be “one of the busiest and most successful”.

Working closely with the firm’s north east corporate finance director, Graham Cornforth, Waters will also help to grow the department and expand its practice in the region.

Cornforth said: “Matt is well known in the professional community and the experience he has gained from his time in industry gave me confidence that he could add significant value to the team.

“We’re looking forward to another exciting year and it’s great to see the North East team expand once again.”
