Goldman Sachs has announced it has appointed Mazars as its auditor, representing the first time the company has been audited by a non-Big Four firm.

Mazars will take over from PwC after new European law was implemented requiring companies to use a different company for audits to the one used for consultancy, the law meant that Goldman Sachs was forced to look for a new auditor.

As the bank currently uses all of the Big Four for consultancy services it was forced to look elsewhere. Mazars has confirmed the Goldman Sachs appointment but declined to comment any further.
