Business and financial adviser Grant Thornton UK has expanded its retail sector expertise, with the addition of two new senior hires.
Wendy Russell, partner in the firm’s audit practice, will join the firm’s Milton Keynes office and brings over 17 years of experience across audit, assurance and finance transformation.
She has worked with a number of publicly listed and private companies in the retail sector and also has “significant experience” helping businesses with financial reporting requirements, including IFRS 16.
The firm has also recently appointed Nicola Sartori as head of mergers and acquisitions (M&A), retail and consumer brands team. Based in the firm’s London offices, Sartori leads the national M&A team focused on the retail and consumer brands sectors, bringing over 16 years of experience advising on high profile transactions. She has also spent time in the industry, having completed a secondment as group finance director with Aurora Fashions.
Russell said: “The UK retail sector is currently undergoing a transformation, as ever-changing consumer shopping habits, technological disruption and pricing pressures continue at pace. I enjoy working with businesses to navigate the challenges and significant opportunities presented to this continuously evolving sector.”
Sartori added: “I’m delighted to be joining Grant Thornton to help drive its fast-growing retail and consumer sector offering and am looking forward to working with the M&A team to build on its already strong foothold in the sector.”
