Audit, tax and consulting firm RSM UK has announced the appointment of Simon Atkins as a partner within its VAT team in London

Atkins joins RSM’s National VAT team and will form part of the VAT leadership team in London, which has grown over the last five years to nearly 30 people.

Prior to his new role, Atkins gained 22 years of experience working at Deloitte where he advised clients on indirect tax issues, including complex VAT rules around property, partial exemption and electronically supplied services.

Overall, he has expertise across a range of industries, including real estate, sporting bodies, and healthcare and life sciences.

Atkins said: “After many years of seeing RSM as an active, fast growing business in the marketplace, I’m very excited to be joining the team. I look forward to contributing to the firm’s continued growth strategy for VAT.”

Ian Carpenter, partner and head of indirect tax at RSM UK, added: “Simon is a fantastic addition to the team, with the demand for advice continuing to increase as clients navigate the post-Brexit indirect tax landscape.

“He will play a key role in enhancing our VAT offering for clients and developing our junior team members. I’m very much looking forward to working with him.”
