UHY Hacker Young has expanded its automotive team with the addition of automotive partner, Ian McMahon.

McMahon joins the firm from ASE and specialises in due diligence, SME advisory, statutory audit and OEM and network studies and has over 20 years’ experience in the automotive sector working with brands in the UK, Europe and beyond.

The firm added that over the last seven years, he has been appointed as a Responsible Individual for a portfolio of Motor Trade audit clients. During this time, he has also developed, implemented and piloted bespoke assurance work projects with dealers and OEMs alike.

UHY Hacker Young currently advises over 75 automotive clients across the UK. The firm said it has “ambitious plans” to grow this further with businesses requiring more specialist advice from its advisors, especially in the current climate which is constantly evolving.

McMahon said: “I’m delighted to announce that I have joined UHY Hacker Young’s Automotive team to further enhance the firm’s leading advisory and assurance offering to dealers and OEMs alike.

“2021 has been a unique year for retailers, with the constant upward trend on used car residuals, new car supply constraints and the ever changing ‘best-practice’ approach to customer experience and interaction.”

He added: “There’s no better industry to deal with this fast-paced change, and I am very much looking forward to reconnecting with my contacts in the industry.”

David Kendrick, national head of Automotive at UHY Hacker Young, said: “With the appointment of Ryan last year and now Ian joining us, this really does give us a vastly experienced leadership team. Ian’s knowledge and experience will be invaluable as we look to develop the business into 2022.”
