UHY Hacker Young has promoted IT director Chris Hand to partner in the London office.

Hand joined UHY Hacker Young in 1994 in an IT support role, before progressing to IT manager and most recently IT director.

According to the firm, Hand has been “instrumental” in modernising UHY Hacker Young’s suite of technology for more than 25 years, from driving the move from DOS and Lotus to Windows and Office.

In addition, he has recently led the “hugely successful overnight transition” to remote working during the pandemic.

Hand also assumed responsibility for the office services team in 2009 and has achieved considerable cost savings across both roles during his tenure.

Subarna Banerjee, managing partner of UHY Hacker Young, said: “We have been fortunate to benefit from Chris’s expertise and commercial acumen for almost three decades. We are big believers in supporting our colleagues’ growth and progression and we are delighted to welcome Chris as a partner.

“Chris has a wealth of proven experience and knowledge to help continue the growth of the firm. He is an expert in his area of practice and has played a key role in much of UHY Hacker Young’s success.”

He added: “We are particularly proud to offer a route to partnership at UHY Hacker Young for those who are not accountants, tax professionals or insolvency practitioners. Chris has proven he is every bit as valuable to the firm as our fee-earners, all of our support staff add enormous value to our work for clients.”
