Smith and Williamson has announced the appointment of Jenny Reed as director at the group’s forensics services team.

Reed will provide the role with over 20 years of experience in the industry, first acting as an auditor before moving into technical, training, and compliance.

Joining from Baker Tilly, Reed has previously worked with clients across a range of sectors, including manufacturing, agriculture, real estate, scientific technology, and pensions.

However, she specialises in the not-for-profit sector, having served as finance director at two two charities.

Reed said: “I am excited to have joined Smith & Williamson and look forward to helping drive continued growth of the firm’s Forensics Services practice.

“I have had a longstanding ambition to work in forensics but thought I had missed the boat, having not moved into that specialism after qualifying. I am looking forward to bringing my audit technical experience to bear on forensic cases, particularly auditor negligence.”

Smith and Williamson’s forensics services department has provided offerings across fraud and financial crime, commercial disputes, valuations, professional negligence matters, monitoring trustee and competition services, and forensic technology for more than 25 years.

David Alexander, head of forensic services at the company, said that the group has “plans to grow” the division, with Reed’s experience enabling the firm to “broaden the range of services we offer our clients”.
