Bupa has announced the appointment of James Lenton as its new group chief financial officer.
Lenton was previously the CFO of Hammerson plc, managing their European portfolio, and was a board member of AIG’s European Group, a position he held for four years.
Earlier in his career, Lenton was a partner at EY and provided a range of assurance and advisory services including M&A, financing and external audit.
Subject to regulatory approval, Lenton will join the health insurer later in the year, with Martin Potkins serving as interim CFO until then.
Iñaki Ereño, the group’s chief executive officer, said: “I’m very pleased to welcome James to Bupa later in 2021. He brings a diverse range of experiences to the role, including an excellent track record of managing complex organisations through periods of transformation.”
On his appointment, Lenton said: “I’m delighted to be joining Bupa at this exciting time in its journey, and I look forward to supporting Iñaki to position the organisation for continued success in the future.”
