Mercer qualified as a chartered accountant in 1972 during his time with the accountancy firm Aspinall’s, for whom he began working for aged 18. He founded Mercers in 1979 and was originally on Breck Road before moving into its current premises after the business acquired Bleazard amd Co in 1998.

Tantram said: “I am really looking forward to working from the Poulton office. I live in Poulton with my boys, it’s a great place as there’s something for everyone. I’m especially looking forward to meeting our new clients; social distancing requirements permitting of course.

“The acquisition of JD Mercers was an excellent opportunity to expand and offers greater accessibility for our clients based in Poulton and over Wyre. We want to make assurances to clients of JD Mercers that we will do our utmost to ensure a smooth transition and look forward to working with them going forward.”
