Benson Accountants has expanded its Scottish operations by merging its Perth practice with local firm Amber Scott.

As part of the transaction, Amber Scott founder Elaine Ewing has joined Benson Accountants, bringing more than 30 years’ experience advising owner-managed businesses across the property, construction, retail and service sectors.

The merger forms part of Benson Accountants’ wider investment in Scotland, where it has been growing its presence since opening its Perth office in 2024 under the leadership of Euan McLeod. The firm said demand for its business and tax advisory services has continued to increase across the country.

Alongside the merger, Benson has strengthened its Perth team with the appointment of client manager Sandra Guthrie, who joined after 13 years with Azets in Perth. Guthrie brings experience advising businesses across a range of sectors, including the rural economy.

Paul Benson, founder of Benson Accountants, said: “We have built a strong team across the practice and having Elaine and Sandra join us in Perth adds further experience, energy and ambition to the business. Their local knowledge and professional expertise will help us continue to strengthen our presence in Scotland and further develop the service we provide to clients across a range of sectors.”

Ewing added: “I am delighted to have joined a firm that shares the same commitment to client service that Amber Scott clients have come to expect. Working alongside the wider Benson team also gives us the opportunity to expand our presence across Scotland and support even more businesses as they grow and develop.”
