FRP Advisory has appointed Emma Thompson as a partner in its restructuring and recovery practice, as it aims to strengthen the firm’s specialist contentious insolvency, asset recovery, and enforcement advisory capabilities in the UK and overseas.
Thompson joins the business with more than 20 years of experience advising companies, lenders, and creditors on complex recovery matters. She began her career in banking before qualifying as an accountant and insolvency practitioner.
Thompson specialises in identifying, preserving, and recovering value across offshore jurisdictions and international markets. In her new role, Thompson will focus on growing the market-leading contentious insolvency offering at the firm.
Additionally, she will emphasise cross-border asset recovery, misconduct, negligence, and global enforcement mandates. The appointment increases senior female representation within the company to support its commitment to developing diverse talent.
Thompson said: “FRP has a strong reputation for the quality of its work and complexity of the mandates it advises on. The business has real momentum, and joining as a Partner is the start of a new and exciting stage in my career.
“Businesses are facing sustained pressure from geopolitical instability, rising costs and weaker consumer spending, and that is creating a more challenging restructuring environment. We will continue to see situations where assets, claims and enforcement issues cross borders. I’m looking forward to working with colleagues across FRP to help clients unlock value.”
She added: “This is also an opportunity to support the next generation of talent in the profession. I want more women working in the industry to see what the path to leadership looks like and to know that their chosen trajectory is achievable.”
Jeremy French, chief operating officer, concluded: “Emma’s appointment is an important step in the continued growth of our restructuring and recovery practice. Her expertise in contentious insolvency, asset recovery and cross-border enforcement deepens our ability to support clients on complex assignments at a time when demand for specialist advice continues to grow.
“Her arrival reflects our strategy of investing in high-calibre senior talent who can broaden our capabilities, strengthen our leadership and support the continued growth of the business. Emma brings technical expertise, strong market relationships and a clear understanding of the issues clients are facing, and we are pleased to welcome her to FRP.”
