The Financial Reporting Council is seeking new members to join its UK GAAP Technical Advisory Group (TAG) to help develop accounting standards for the UK and Ireland.

The TAG brings together up to 15 financial reporting experts with a broad mix of sector experience of operating under the UK and Ireland Financial Reporting framework.

The group supports the development and maintenance of UK and Ireland accounting standards, including Statements of Recommended Practice (SORPs).

It also supports the FRC in considering key issues such as conflicting interpretations, emerging risks to financial reporting quality, and the impact of developments in IFRS Accounting Standards.

The regulator is particularly seeking candidates with experience in corporate preparer roles and individuals based in the Republic of Ireland.

The voluntary positions are unpaid and require a time commitment of two to five days per year to attend hybrid meetings.

The regulator will permit only one member from any single accounting network to join the panel.

Applicants from both for-profit and not-for-profit sectors have until 31 October 2024 to apply.
