Simpkins Edwards has announced the appointment of Michael Hesketh as a corporate tax partner to strengthen its advisory team across the South West.

Hesketh, who joins the firm from a national practice, will be based in the Exeter and Barnstaple offices. He has 20 years of experience in tax compliance and advisory services.

His expertise includes succession planning, transaction tax structuring and cross-border reorganisations, having previously managed tax advisory services for a national firm within the region.

The firm was established in 1968 and currently employs 130 staff across five offices in Devon. It provides tax consultancy and management accounts to small businesses and multi-national entities.

Hesketh said: “I’m delighted to join Simpkins Edwards as part‑owner of a successful, independent firm with deep roots in the local community and long‑standing client relationships.

“I’m looking forward to supporting the next stage of the firm’s growth by helping clients navigate complex tax matters and make confident, informed decisions about their businesses.”

Mark Simic, managing partner of Simpkins Edwards, added: “We continue to see strong demand from entrepreneurs and owner‑managed businesses across the region. Michael’s appointment further enhances the depth of our corporate tax offering for both existing and prospective clients.

“His experience in the West Country means he already understands the value of the trusted relationships we build with our clients. I’m confident he will make a significant contribution in the years ahead.”
