Hurst has made its first round of promotions since partnering with Birmingham-headquartered firm Dains.

The accounting and business advisory firm has appointed corporation tax specialist Ellen Feetum as a partner, while elevating Sarah Haley to the new position of associate director in the tax team.

Feetum joined Hurst from KPMG last year as an associate partner to lead its new corporation tax compliance offering.

Haley, who began her career at Hurst in 2006 as a graduate trainee, also worked at KPMG for five and half years before returning to Hurst as a manager in 2021.

Hurst has also promoted five members of its business services team to associate managers, including previous trainees Ewan Lawson, Miles Redgrave, Jasmine Ali, Jake Holt and Todd Thompstone.

Hurst’s business services team offers audit, compliance, strategic advisory, outsourcing and business planning support for an expanding client base across the UK.

It is the firm’s largest team, made up of over 70 employees.

The Stockport-headquartered practice specialises in advising three core client segments – owner-managed businesses, private equity-backed enterprises and UK subsidiaries of overseas parent companies – with clients such as SJM Concerts, Duerr’s and Lancashire County Cricket Club.

Hurst was recently acquired by the Dains Group, a national accountancy and business advisory firm which operates from 30 locations across the UK and Ireland, a move Hurst said further boosted the resources and expertise available to advise clients both domestically and overseas.

Hurst partner and director of practice development, Simon Brownbill, said: “These
are the first promotions since we partnered with Dains, and there will be many more
to follow in line with our continued growth and our strategy to strengthen the team for
the next phase of our journey.”
