Duncan and Toplis has marked its 100th anniversary with a celebration recognising staff contributions and a volunteering initiative that delivered more than 100 hours of support to local charities and community groups.
More than 250 team members attended the centenary event, which reflected on the firm’s history and recognised standout achievements from the past year. The celebration included an awards ceremony alongside live music and social events.
As part of the centenary programme, staff exceeded a group-wide volunteering target, recording 117 volunteer hours across local communities. Activities included sorting donated goods, carrying out site maintenance and helping to clean and prepare animal enclosures.
Volunteering supported a range of organisations, including St Barnabas Hospice, Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust and Redgate Farm Animal Sanctuary, alongside local sports teams and youth groups.
Heidi Thompson, chief people officer at Duncan and Toplis, said the volunteering challenge was designed to reflect the firm’s long-standing community focus.
She said: “As we celebrate our centenary this year, we wanted to strengthen our commitment to positively impacting our people and communities. We set out to complete 100 volunteer hours and are proud to have exceeded this target.”
Alongside the volunteering initiative, staff are also taking part in a litter-picking challenge aimed at collecting 100kg of rubbish by the end of the year. To date, 83kg has been collected, including 37kg gathered by teams working with other local employers in Boston and Spalding.
Damon Brain, chief executive at Duncan and Toplis, said the centenary had provided an opportunity to reflect on the group’s history while looking ahead.
He said: “It’s been great to see so many people stepping up to the challenges we set ourselves to mark this occasion, including the volunteering and litter-picking initiatives. Working together to achieve common goals really does make a difference.”
If you’d like, I can also tighten this further for a regional business page, or re-angle it more explicitly around the volunteering outcomes rather than the anniversary.
