ACCA’s Professional Diploma in Sustainability has been credit rated at Level 10 on the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework, placing it at the standard of a UK bachelor’s honours degree. The rating carries 20 credits, equal to 200 hours of learning.
The qualification is aimed at finance professionals responding to rising expectations around environmental reporting and compliance. ACCA said demand for structured sustainability training has increased as regulation develops across major markets.
ACCA’s recent talent trends survey found that environmental impact was a key career driver, with just over half of respondents saying they wanted to work in sustainability-focused roles within accountancy and finance.
Abdul Goffar, director – UK at ACCA, said: “We’re pleased to have had our sustainability diploma credit rated at SCQF Level 10. Sustainability is rapidly becoming one of the most powerful drivers of business strategy, regulatory compliance, and investment decision-making. As the regulatory environment becomes more complex, businesses require financial professionals who can lead the sustainability agenda.
“The SCQF Level 10 recognition underscores the quality of this programme and our commitment to ensuring the accountancy profession is ready to step up and lead the transition to a sustainable global economy.”
The diploma includes an integrated case study exam designed to assess how learners apply technical knowledge to realistic scenarios. Study is supported by Acca resources, including four related certificates and exam preparation materials intended to allow flexible learning.
ACCA has launched several sustainability-focused initiatives in recent years as international standards for climate and broader ESG disclosures continue to evolve. The organisation said the new credit rating strengthens its efforts to prepare members for emerging regulatory requirements and wider shifts in corporate reporting.
