Azets has appointed Asif Ahmed as audit director and promoted Meg Walker and Joel Fentem to director roles as part of a series of senior changes across its Midlands offices.

Ahmed, who joins the Wolverhampton office, brings more than 10 years’ experience advising clients ranging from owner-managed businesses and small and medium-sized enterprises to multinational listed groups.

A specialist in International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), he has worked on complex group audits and bespoke assurance projects.

Walker, also based in Wolverhampton, joined Azets in 2021 as audit manager and has since played a key role in the team’s growth.

In her new role as director, she will continue to work with SMEs, charities and academies, focusing on high-quality audits that support business development.

Fentem, promoted within the Birmingham audit team after six years with the firm, works with corporate clients including football clubs and airports.

His audit work combines technology-driven processes with tailored approaches aimed at supporting wider business objectives.

Richard Goddard, regional managing partner at Azets, said: “It’s great to be welcoming Asif to the team at such an exciting time. With his broad experience, Asif will play a pivotal role in enhancing our national audit offering and strengthening our presence across the Midlands, underlining our continued investment in talent.

“In total, we promoted 34 across our West Midlands offices, which showcases our commitment to promoting talent from within the business. Each has demonstrated exceptional commitment, expertise, and ambition, and I’m proud to see their achievements recognised as part of our continued investment in people and growth across the UK. Our team is growing across both general and specialist sectors in a variety of service lines, which reflects the demand from our clients.”

Azets, an international business advisory group, operates regional offices in Aldridge, Birmingham, Blandford Forum, Bristol, Cardiff, Coventry, Gloucester, Nottingham, Plymouth, South Molton, Swansea, Tamworth, Truro and Wolverhampton.
