PM+M has announced it has achieved Certified B Corporation status, joining a community of over 9,700 businesses globally that have certified as B Corps.

The certification, awarded by B Lab, recognises businesses that meet standards of social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability.

The certification assesses the entirety of a business’ operations and companies must provide evidence across areas including governance, workers, community, environment and customers.

The certification process is “rigorous”, with companies required to provide evidence on performance while legally embedding their commitment to purpose as well as profit in their company.

PM+M is only the second accounting firm headquartered in the North West to be certified, and one of 25 accountancy firms across the UK.

Founded in 1919, PM+M delivers a range of services across audit and accounting, corporate finance, cloud accounting, payroll, business and private client tax, financial planning and mortgages.

Helen Clayton, managing partner at PM+M, said: “Becoming a Certified B Corporation reflects the way we have always tried to do business which is putting our people, our clients and our community at the heart of every decision whilst consistently delivering an outstanding service. Certification is a milestone, not a finish line, and we’re excited to keep raising the bar. We are determined to always use business as a force for good.

“Certification means that PM+M’s practices, and our commitment to stakeholder governance, is world-leading and that is something myself and the whole team are immensely proud of. Moving forward, we will be striving for continuous improvement, we are committed to recertification, and we will use the B Corp framework to benefit Lancashire and the wider North West region.”

Chris Turner, executive director of B Lab UK, added: “We are delighted to welcome PM+M to the B Corp community. This is a movement of companies that are committed to changing how business operates and believe business really can be a force for good. We know that PM+M is going to be a fantastic addition to the community and will continue driving the conversation forward.”
