Accountancy firm Carpenter Box has welcomed 12 new trainees across its south coast offices as part of its annual recruitment drive.

The firm, which employs 55 trainees in total, more than 20% of its workforce, said the latest intake would pursue a range of professional qualifications including the Chartered Accountant (ACA), Chartered Certified Accountant (ACCA), Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) and Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA) pathways.

The September cohort includes three recruits who first attended the firm’s trainee scheme open evening in November 2024.

In Worthing, the head office has taken on six trainees. They include placement year student Alfie Hyland from Sussex University, and graduates Amrita Jassal from Brighton University and Amy Cooke from Warwick University, who are training towards ACCA and CIMA respectively.

Other joinees are Bobby Haggis from Worthing College, and StarBox team members Darcy Tidzer-Smith, also from Worthing College, and Finley Searle, a Nottingham Trent graduate returning to the firm after a placement year.

Additionally, the Portsmouth office has recruited Lancaster University graduate Alice Thurman, who is beginning ACA training in the business services group, and Nottingham University graduate Oscar Powell, who joins the audit and assurance team.

In Chichester, Portsmouth University graduate Sanjana Jeeawock has joined as an audit trainee, while Crawley has welcomed Bayers Business School graduate Thnus Sivanesan, starting ACA training, and Henley Business School graduate Thomas Emmerson, pursuing the ATT/CTA tax pathway.

Brighton has added two graduates: Sussex University’s Angelé Basden, beginning ATT/CTA training in tax services, and Southampton University’s Yunus Kol, joining the business services team on the ACA/CTA route.

Carpenter Box said the latest intake reflected the “breadth of talent joining its audit, tax and finance teams”.
