Grant Thornton UK has announced that Stuart Quickenden has been appointed as chair of the board at Grant Thornton.
He takes over from interim chair, Imogen Joss, who remains on the board as an independent non-executive (INE) alongside fellow INE Andrew Silverbeck, former CFO at Environmental Resources Management (ERM).
Quickenden was previously managing partner for the UK, Ireland, Netherlands, and Belgium at The Boston Consulting Group (BCG).
The announcement comes as Grant Thornton continues to accelerate its growth, following its decision to take external investment from international private equity firm Cinven.
This year, the firm has already appointed 32 new partners (the majority of which are internal), promoted more than 600 employees and is set to welcome over 260 graduates and school leavers next month.
Malcolm Gomersall, chief executive at Grant Thornton UK, said: “I’d like to extend my sincere thanks to Imogen for her outstanding leadership and commitment during her time as interim chair of Grant Thornton UK’s board and her earlier service as chair of the firm’s former partnership governance board. Imogen brought a thoughtful and rigorous approach to the role, offering both challenge and support in equal measure.
“As INEs, the perspectives that Imogen and Andrew bring to the firm strengthen the board’s breadth and depth as we move forward. We are also delighted to welcome Stuart Quickenden as our new chair, whose strategic insight and experience will be invaluable as we continue to grow and evolve.”
Quickenden added: “Having spent most of my career in client and leadership roles in professional services, I’m delighted to join the board of Grant Thornton at such an exciting time, as the firm accelerates its growth with external investment. I look forward to working with Cinven, the board, the GT Partners and the whole Grant Thornton UK team.”
