HW Fisher, part of the Sumer Group, has announced that it has expanded its audit practice with the appointment of Diccon Thornely as audit partner.

With nearly 20 years’ experience, Thornely advises on a wide range of areas, with particular expertise in reporting under UK GAAP and IFRS as well as specialist specific sector reporting.

He joins HW Fisher from Sedulo where he successfully doubled the size of the audit team and implemented a number of quality improvement initiatives.

Prior to his role at Sedulo, he was a responsible individual focusing on not for profit (specialising in Higher Education and Charities) and Technology, Media and Telecommunications after training and qualifying with Grant Thornton.

His experience spans both commercial and not-for-profit organisations. His commercial experience includes working with full list and AIM-listed entities, as well as private equity-backed organisations.

He has also developed significant expertise in the not for profit sector, working extensively with higher education institutions, charities and membership organisations.

Andrew Rich, managing partner at HW Fisher, said: “The board at HW Fisher is delighted to welcome Diccon to the firm. His proven track record in building high-performing audit teams combined with his excellent technical expertise across multiple sectors will be invaluable as we continue to grow our practice. His arrival significantly bolsters our audit practice and enhances our ability to serve the increasingly complex needs of our clients.”

Thornely added: “I am thrilled to be joining HW Fisher, a firm with such a strong reputation for excellence and innovation in the industry. I look forward to applying my experience and knowledge to help grow the firm’s audit capabilities, implement quality-focused initiatives, and continue to deliver exceptional service to clients across all sectors.”
