James Cowper Kreston’s Corporate Finance team recently advised Horseman Coaches of Reading on its sale to the newly formed The Coach Travel Group.

The Coach Travel Group was formed as a consolidation of seven former family owned operators in June and brings together prominent names in the industry, including Alpine Travel, Barnes Coaches, Coatham Coaches, JH Coaches, Johnsons Coaches, Swans Travel and The Ready Group.

The group has over 700 employees and 450 vehicles, providing top-tier coach travel services rooted in local communities.

Horseman Coaches is a private coach hire company operating throughout Reading, Wokingham, Bracknell, Maidenhead, Slough, West Berkshire and across the South East carrying over 9,000 passengers each day. Horseman will continue to operate as an individual brand within the group strengthening their position in the South East.

James Horseman, company director at Horseman Coaches, said: “It was a pleasure working with Stuart and the team at James Cowper Kreston on this transaction. Their expert guidance and round the clock support at every stage of the process was invaluable and enabled us to achieve a very positive, and successful completion. I would highly recommend Stuart and the team to other business owners who are considering their own exit strategy.”

Tom Sables, CEO at The Coach Travel Group, added: “We are delighted to announce the addition of Horseman Coaches to The Coach Travel Group so soon after the company was formed in the summer. Our ethos is to grow the group by bringing together well-established and like-minded operators, many of them family owned; by building a portfolio of operators with a shared passion for first-class group travel, we will be better equipped to navigate the future challenges of the sector.”

Stuart Williams, who led the team at James Cowper Kreston Corporate Finance, said: “We were delighted to support Horseman Coaches on their sale to The Coach Travel Group. This partnership represents an exciting new chapter, allowing Horseman Coaches to build on their outstanding service while leveraging the expanded opportunities and resources offered by the group.”
