The Cambridge office of Oaklins Evelyn Partners has completed the sale of HD Clinical Limited, headquartered in Bishop’s Stortford, to listed German organisation NEXUS AG.

HD Clinical, founded by Dr Clive Layton and employees in 2005, developed an electronic clinical record system that focused primarily on the requirements of clinical departments and on delivering management data derived from real-world patient information.

The HD Clinical approach is designed to capture “maximum engagement” from clinical teams by meeting their needs and recognising the specific requirements of each speciality.  It has particular specialisms in endoscopy and cardiology.

NEXUS AG is considered an innovative provider of hospital information systems (HIS) and is the market leader in many diagnostic fields such as radiology, pathology, ophthalmology, gastroenterology, cardiology, and gynaecology.

Oaklins Evelyn Partners, who was appointed by the founders to identify a buyer for the business, ran a highly competitive sale process, and then negotiated and advised on all financial and commercial aspects of the deal.

Prashant Dhokia, who led the deal for Evelyn Partners, said: “It’s been a pleasure working with Clive, Mark, and the wider HD Clinical team over recent months. We’re delighted to have advised them throughout this competitive process and have achieved an excellent outcome for both the shareholders and the company. This cross-border transaction is another good example of our ability to leverage our Oaklins international network.”

Layton added: “The team at Oaklins Evelyn Partners was able to navigate us through what turned out to be an incredibly complex and challenging transaction process. The level of attention, communication and availability exceeded our expectations and was invaluable in keeping the momentum of the deal going.

“Their drive and determination to get the right deal for the shareholders was exceptional and I look forward to working with the team again in the, hopefully, not too distant future.”
